Samsung Việt Nam hiến kế cho Vietnam Airlines: Dùng máy bay đang ‘đắp chiếu’ để chở hàng

Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, suggested that the remaining aircrafts of the national airline of Vietnam (Vietnam Airlines) can be temporarily used for cargo shipping, especially flights to Europe. This is supposed to help both aviation and logistics industries overcome recent difficulties.

During a dialogue in Hanoi on July 17 between the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council for Administrative Reform and the Korean business community in Vietnam on dealing with difficulties during Covid-19, representatives of Korean businesses expressed their desire to improve the regime so that Korean – Vietnamese enterprises can work and enter the country without quarantine in some cases.

Specifically, non-quarantine cases include short-term work (within 15 days), entry for important jobs such as business investment and contract signing, inspection and negative results after initial entry.

South Korea is currently taking measures to allow foreigners to enter the country without requiring mandatory quarantine after submitting a written confirmation of exemption from self-isolation by the consulate. Important jobs namely business investment and contract signing are exempted also.

Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, also expected the investment procedure for some IT projects to be accelerated. For example, according to Mr. Choi Joo Ho, a Samsung subsidiary took months to adjust the investment registration certificate last year and almost missed the production of new products. He proposed to use the remaining aircrafts of Vietnam Airlines, which has many direct lines to Europe, to temporarily transport cargo.

Accordingly, this could help both airlines and export businesses reap the economic benefits.

Previously, having shared about the impact of translation that businesses are facing, Mr. Duong Tri Thanh, CEO of Vietnam Airlines, said that due to a sharp decrease in travel demand, this business sometimes had a surplus of about 20 – 30 aircrafts, sometimes even up to 40 planes were in the waiting line.
