The representative of AEON Vietnam said that the shopping demand at commercial centers and supermarkets increased significantly in the afternoon of July 6, especially for fresh and dry food items.
In particular, the number of customers after 16h00 doubled. Sometimes, the quantity of online orders was overloaded, which caused the reception time to be reallocated.
The number of online shopping orders in June 2021 rose by 3 times as many as May, due to the tendency to online shopping of customers especially in the context of Covid-19 pandemic.
The traffic from purchase service via AEON App increased about 6 times, while that figure on Grabmart application increased more than 3 times.
In response, AEON Vietnam affirms that they always work closely with suppliers to ensure supply, maintain a stable quantity of goods as well as prices. AEON has increased the stock to meet the changing needs. Specifically, for fresh food products (vegetables, meat, and fish) increase by 400 – 600% (5-7 times depending on the situation), for dry food products, increase by 200 – 400% (3-5 times depending on the situation).
However, suppliers and carriers have difficulty getting in/out of HCMC because of Covid-19 infection control procedures. AEON Vietnam will continue to support them to ensure the flow of materials.
Likewise, Big C supermarket chain has also increased the supply to meet the demand. Fresh food will be stocked in a triple amount. Fresh meat products at supermarkets Big C, GO! in HCMC area will be increased 7 times (about 70 tons per day); vegetables and fruits will (HCMC area) supply about 100 tons per day, etc. FMCG (dry food) goods are in stock for more than 30 days (equivalent to 1,800 tons, up 30% compared to weekdays).
In addition, Big C also extended open time from 8 am to 11 pm daily in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to records from the Vinmart, Vinmart+ chain, the number of customers shopping offline increased by about 20% and over 50% through online channels. In particular, the number of MEAT Deli meat orders has been overloaded, but the problem was guaranteed to be solved as soon as possible.
VinMart and VinMart+ systems have cooperated with many suppliers to maintain the continuous flow of goods. Moreover, the reserve is enough for 3 – 6 months.
Supermarkets and shopping centers also affirmed to comply with safe shopping measures during the pandemic.
