Successful trial using health passport
According to Vietnam Airlines, the first time that passengers have participated in the test using the application was a success, raising many hopes for the following test flights.
The IATA Travel Pass is one of the most expected solutions for Vietnam to restore international flight routes quickly and safely, opening up opportunities for the tourism and aviation industry after being heavily affected by Covid-19.

The initial test results show that passengers can quickly and easily complete the process, from creating a digital profile on the app and filling in-flight information to updating translation requests epidemiology at the destination. In particular, Covid-19 testing requirements at Hong Ngoc General Hospital System hospitals meet the testing standards licensed by the Ministry of Health and belong to the list of laboratories approved by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) designation. Passengers will receive an electronic result on the app showing their flight status “OK to travel” and share it with the airline before commencing their journey.
Basis for the government to consider recognition
The feature of this application continues to be promoted when it can replace the current types of paper procedures, which saves time for guests and reduces contact as well as congestion at the airport. Vietnam Airlines hopes that the successful test of the electronic health passport will serve as a basis for the Government to consider officially recognizing this mechanism, creating momentum to open the sky and speeding up the road resumption route of international flights soon.

The successful test results are positive after Vietnam Airlines officially concretized the cooperation program with IATA under the agreement signed by the two sides in May. This airline will continue to experiment on flights from Hanoi to Tokyo until the end of August and flight VN5055 from Hanoi to London on September 2.
Currently, 3 airlines in Vietnam are in the testing phase of the IATA Travel Pass as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Bamboo Airways. Currently, Singapore, Panama, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are the countries that have officially agreed to allow passengers to use this application upon entry. In addition, more than 50 airlines have announced the test, such as Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, etc.
