As one of the giants in the logistics industry, Kerry Logistics Network aims to provide solutions, restore logistics networks to cope with climate change, and minimize the impact on the environment. The company is committed to this by switching to renewable energy for road traffic to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The goal is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
First plans
Kerry Logistics Network’s green initiative started with a trial run of electric trucks in Hong Kong. To support cleaner and greener supply chain management, the company will transition to alternative fuel vehicles and phase out higher-emission vehicles on a trial basis. Since energy consumption accounts for the majority of carbon emissions, they will continue to increase their use of renewable energy and will apply it to the countries in which they operate. Thereby creating a sustainable business value chain.
Kerry Logistics Network’s first electric vehicles were deployed in Singapore in the second quarter of 2021. Then in the fourth quarter, the company installed four electric vehicle charging stations at its global headquarters in Hong Kong, marking the progress in the plan to develop the global green logistics system.
