FULL ARTICLE

On the evening of October 12, Biti’s deputy general manager in charge of marketing Hung Vo, apologized to customers for using cheap Chinese brocade to make a shoe collection “honoring culture in the Central region”.

He said that the incident was the result of “irresponsible, careless, not thorough and not closely reviewed in the design and production stages”. It is a great lesson for the process of using materials and ideas related to Vietnamese culture.

Admit mistakes

On October 10, Biti’s launched a collection called “Blooming Central”, which is inspired and celebrated Central culture. However, a Facebook user named La Quoc Bao discovered a collection of shoes using cheap brocade, which can be easily found on Taobao.

Biti’s admitted end explained they tried to find the source of fabric materials in the country, but could not find a supplier with suitable woven fabric.

Mr. Phu Cuong, marketing director of Biti’s said: “The supporting industry in Vietnam is weak, which the footwear association and the fashion industry in Vietnam all know. Second, the time of product development related to the 4th outbreak, so the production facilities, which are located in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, are closed, affecting the product making process.”

Biti’s solutions posed

Regarding the solution, Biti’s Hunter proposes replacing the brocade fabric inspired by Hue culture and art to improve the product better, meeting the requirements and expectations of Vietnamese consumers.

The brand will also recall all orders manufactured according to the design using Chinese brocade, re-editing all images and media information to match the above edits within the next 24 hours.

The company affirms that the version delivered to consumers will be the updated version with the latest brocade materials and textures. Besides, the company will support customers who want to return.

Biti’s announced that: “We will support customers who have pre-ordered this product but want a refund because the new design is no longer suitable for customers’ preferences”. The company continues to maintain the plan of contributing 100,000 VND from the revenue of each product sold of this collection to the talent development funds of the Central region.
