On November 14th, Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) officially launched the construction of new manufacturing plant located within DEEP C industrial zone (Hai Phong city).
This project has a scale of 6.5 ha, with the total investment capital of million 200 USD for Phase I. USI will utilize this plant to manufacture circuit boards for electronic devices like clocks, smart phones and headphones of many world-leading brands. During the Phase I, USI will mainly provide circuit boards for international market with the annual capacity of 14 million products, equivalent to 57.6 tons. Besides, this new factory is expected to create 2,000 jobs for local residents, modernizing and escalating digitalization process in Hai Phong.
All construction work items of this plant are likely to be completed in Q2/2021, followed by the initial operation and trial phase. Not until Q3/2021 is USI factory planned to officially come into operation. The future plan will be defined as per clients’ demand and company’s development orientation. However, USI plans to increase its investment capital to USD 400 million in the next phase.
Mr. Kuei Chun Chi, the manufacturing service director of USI Group, shared that such a large-scale investment project in an ASEAN country like Vietnam helps USI to access the lucrative market and meet increasing demand from foreign investors. Moreover, enterprises with manufacturing plants within the DEEP C industrial zone can enjoy tax incentives and low labor costs, which bring them great competitive advantages.
“The factory we are building in Vietnam will play a key part in the schedule of enhancing our company’s global production capacity”, said Mr. Kuei Chun Chi.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Bui Ngoc Hai – Vice-president of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority – shared his expectation that USI would become a leading manufacturer of electronic components, contributing to the development of the national supply chain of electronic products. This is also compatible with the development orientations of Hai Phong authorities.
According to Mr. Bruno Jaspaert, General director of DEEP C Industrial Zone, the fact that a global giant like USI decided to invest in Hai Phong is a concrete proof of the potential labor force and huge development opportunities. This also helps to build up belief among other strong investors in the process of seeking a reliable destination for production expansion. He expressed his pride when DEEP C was chosen by USI after a long period of comprehensive research.
It is predictable that the appearance of new manufacturing plants in Hai Phong is probably a driving force behind the logistics development in this port city, ensuring a dynamic future with considerable throughput from/to Hai Phong.
