Reuters quoted two sources close to the news that Shopee, an online shopping application and e-commerce exchange owned by Sea Ltd group, is currently recruiting sellers to enter Poland.
Online sellers in Poland have started receiving letters of cooperation from Shopee by phone since the beginning of August. The Singapore e-commerce company has also signed supply contracts with local logistics companies such as DPD or InPost.

Besides, Shopee also bought the domain name Shopee.pl. Shopee is likely to hold many promotions in Poland between October 2021 and March 2022, including free shipping for buyers and commissions for sellers.
Market research firm Euromonitor estimates the Polish e-commerce market to be worth 16 billion euros ($19 billion), with significant growth potential compared to Western countries. In Poland, Shopee will have to compete very fiercely with many big competitors such as local e-commerce platform Allergo and “giant” Amazon.
Shopee continuously expands its activities
Earlier, at the end of August, Reuters reported that Shopee would soon enter the Indian market. Shopee has started a campaign to “recruit” sellers to transact on a platform called “Shopee India”. An insider source told Reuters that Shopee is expanding its operations to India cautiously and that the official launch date of the service has yet to be decided.

Over the past few years, Shopee has continuously expanded its operations outside of Southeast Asia, specifically the Latin America region. Earlier this year, Shopee expanded its operations to Chile, Mexico, and Colombia after becoming the most downloaded shopping app in Brazil. In addition, Shopee also plans to launch in the Argentine market in the next few months.
Shopee is currently considered the largest e-commerce company in Vietnam in particular and Southeast Asia in general. In the second quarter of this year, Shopee brought in $1.2 billion in revenue globally.
