Nearly 45,000 tons of food have been transported through logistics carriers

The Covid-19 epidemic is becoming more and more complicated, many provinces and cities have implemented social distancing, causing the volume of goods transported through logistics carriers to increase. Particularly in Hanoi, 5,500 tons of food have been provided to city people through Viettel Post, Fast Delivery, and Economical Delivery.

Hanoi will continue to implement social distancing until 6 am on September 6 to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic. In that situation, the Hanoi People’s Committee leaders urged all levels and sectors to plan ahead of time so that the goods supply chain is not disrupted and to put in place mechanisms to stabilize pricing, ensure circulate safety, and assure the safety of goods and services.

Facing the above situation, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade confirmed that there was a plan to ensure the supply and coordination of food, food, and essential items to serve the people’s consumption needs during the second period of isolation.

At the same time, postal businesses also actively participate in the implementation of ensuring the transportation and supply of food and essential goods to localities implementing social distancing, including Hanoi.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, postal businesses have set up more than 4,300 essential goods supply points in 27 provinces and cities across the country. By the end of August 21, the total volume of essential goods supplied was more than 44,100 tons, based on aggregated data from 5 businesses including Viettel Post, Vietnam Post, Fast delivery, Economical delivery, and Netco.

From July 24 to August 20, Vietnam Post and Viettel Post delivered approximately 5,500 tons of food and commodities to individuals in Hanoi through three channels, including direct sales at nearly 300 service stations, a hotline, and e-commerce platforms Postmart and Seashell.

Prepare plans and scenarios during the quarantine period

Postal businesses have prepared scenarios and plan to increase transportation and supply activities during the second phase of the lockdown in Hanoi. “In the coming time, the Post Office will continue to maintain transaction points providing postal services and delivery of consumer goods in 30 districts,” said Mr. Bui Van Hoang, Deputy Director of Hanoi Post.

In addition, Hanoi Post will coordinate with other units in Vietnam Post to bring many items, including typical regional agricultural products to Postmart for people to have more choices.

In addition, a representative of Viettel Post said that in nearly 30 days of Hanoi implementing the distance, Shell Channel has provided more than 1,300 tons of goods. Therefore, the business will continue to promote this sales channel soon. In the past 10 days, consumption through Seashells reached about 50 tons. This shows that people have been gradually getting used to online shopping.

Postal businesses will continue to cooperate with supermarkets and food chain stores in the “green zone” to collect orders and deliver goods to consumers in small areas when social distancing time in Hanoi City drags on.
