The new container depot covers an area of 60,000 square meters with a storage capacity of 4,000 TEUs, which includes an onsite repair shop and a dedicated area for reefers with 25 plugs.
Besides, the infrastructure system here is equipped with three reach stackers and three empty handlers in operation “which ensures a fast turnaround of equipment”. The depot also has fully automated gates and real-time electronic data interchange (EDI) connections offering advanced security and efficiencies for customers.

ONE’s representative, Johan Pijpers commented, “Depot yard space in most European and African ports is being reduced and for that reason our strategy is to start long term partnerships with our most valued suppliers where we see opportunities. ONE is focused on providing best-in-class service to its customers while ensuring that ONE is set up for growth in one of the most important ports in Europe”.
UCS is strategically located in the Port of Hamburg and is close to all main line terminals creating a flexible hub for empty containers.
Moritz Rieck, owner of UCS, praised the partnership, “With this partnership we can fully focus on the needs of Ocean Network Express and deliver a premium service in line with their core values. We look forward to the future and are proud to work together with Ocean Network Express.”
The launch of the new box depot in the major German port comes two years after the opening of a similar depot in Rotterdam.
