The Covid-19 pandemic is still causing many challenges for Vietnam’s society and economy in recent months, but the aircraft manufacturer still believes in the development of the aviation industry here, continuing to affirm its decision to commit to long-term investment and support by opening the first representative office in Hanoi.
Accordingly, Boeing’s office in Vietnam has just been put into operation, at the same time as the office in Indonesia. In addition, Mr. Alexander Feldman, former Chairman and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), was appointed as the President of Boeing Southeast Asia, including Boeing Vietnam.
The decision took effect on August 27 and Mr. Feldman will be based at Boeing headquarters in Singapore, responsible for overseeing strategy and operations as the company expands its presence in Southeast Asia. Mr. Feldman will also serve as Director, President of Boeing Singapore and CEO of PT. Boeing Indonesia.
According to the president of Boeing International, Boeing’s presence in Indonesia and Vietnam will support the company’s growth goals in the commercial aircraft, defense and services businesses.
According to the Business Portal, Boeing registered to establish a legal entity in Vietnam in August 2018, named Boeing Vietnam Company Limited.
Before operating the office, Boeing also had a number of suppliers in Vietnam. In 2007, MHI Aerospace Vietnam (MHIVA) opened an aircraft-related manufacturing facility in Hanoi. Here, the first Boeing parts produced were the wings in the 737.
In 2014, the company delivered the 1,000th product including 737 flaps manufactured in Vietnam and marked the expansion of the factory’s capacity. Since then, the factory’s production line has expanded to supply the Boeing 777 and 777X series.
