Efforts to restore operations at the port
Ningbo – Zhoushan Port Cluster with the largest volume of cargo and 3rd rank in terms of container volume in the world has started operating normally again. That eases the pressure about cargo congestion causing global supply chain congestion.
The manager of Ningbo – Zhoushan Port Cluster said that the average volume of containers in a week had reached 75,000 teus (equivalent to 90% of the normal). The resources are focused on carrying out mass testing of all employees at Meishan port and neighboring member ports 3 times.
Meishan Port, which handles more than 20% of the total container volume through the Ningbo – Zhoushan Port Cluster, has resumed normal operations under strict disease control procedures.
“Public areas are disinfected more than 3 times a day, ventilated and sanitized. Workers are not allowed to leave the cabin unless necessary. Procedures must be strictly followed. The port will be suspended if there is any violation. Vessels of any company that are blacklisted will be refused to dock,” said Deputy General Director of Ningbo – Zhoushan Port Cluster Tuong Nhat.
Maintain good momentum of recovery
The port cluster with a container volume of more than 28 million TEUs in 2020 will gradually return to normal operation. Commodities to Hong Kong (China) going around the world, especially the US and Canada, will no longer tense.
