Specifically, three logistics centers with a total size of approximately 110ha will be located in the Ben Luc district, in the communes of Thanh Phu, Thanh Loi, and Luong Hoa. Along with that are logistics centers in the Binh Hiep international border gate economic zone with an area of 10 hectares, the logistics center at My Quy Tay border gate with an area of 10 ha, and the logistics center at Long An port.
There have been two centers in operation thus far: one in Thanh Phu commune (Ben Luc district) and one at Long An International port (Can Giuoc district). The planned logistics centers will have a system of warehouses, bonded warehouses, dump yards, etc to meet the requirements of production and circulation of goods in the country, as well as import and export of Long An and the Southern key economic region.
After being put into operation, logistics centers will meet the functions of serving goods such as loading and unloading, warehousing, preservation, classification, and packaging of goods, etc; transport functions and distribution such as transportation, collection, and distribution of goods by different means of transport. In addition, it also performs support functions such as customs clearance, procedures, papers, maintenance activities for transport vehicles, supply of gasoline, etc.
The logistics center is linked to many modes of transportation such as road, river, and sea, and it performs tasks relating to transportation, logistics, and distribution of local and international commodities. As a result, businesses in the area will benefit from shorter transit times for goods in the supply chain, lower logistical costs, and improved efficiency and competitiveness.
In parallel with the construction of logistics centers, Long An focuses on implementing many measures to build a competitive transport market in the direction of developing multimodal transport, connecting between different modes of transport. In addition, focusing on applying information technology also helps to reduce transportation costs to facilitate the circulation and distribution of goods and services of enterprises.
At the same time, the province focuses on implementing planning, accelerating the construction progress of key traffic works, and perfecting the traffic infrastructure connecting throughout the area from industrial zones and clusters to provinces and cities in the region and Long An international port, meeting the travel and cargo needs of people and business.
