According to the original plan, GoCar will launch in the market in early June 2021. At that time, Ho Chi Minh City applied Directive 16, which pushed back the launch plan. However, after researching about the travel and medical equipment transportation needs of the frontline medical forces in Ho Chi Minh City, Gojek decided to contribute its efforts by restarting the GoCar plan with a completely free service. The GoCar lineup was officially launched on August 19, 2021. It can be said that GoCar is the child born in the storm season.
Minimize infection
To ensure the safety of the epidemic, including the safety of driver-partners, as well as those using the GoCar service, drivers only participate in activities when the PCR results are negative. After that, the drivers will be equipped with a COVID-19 rapid test kit to check their health conditions weekly and provided with medical protective equipment to prevent epidemics such as masks, antibacterial spray, anti-inflammatory glasses drops, etc. Gojek also collaborates with the Department of Health to ensure that all participating drivers receive at least the first dosage of the vaccine.
Driver partners are arranged to dine and rest at separate accommodation hotels in order to minimize the risk of infection. For the entire process of this centralized stay, Gojek pays all the costs of meals, accommodation, and all related accessories. They also support drivers to stabilize their income which drivers can particular this campaign with peace of mind.
Regarding vehicles, Gojek also put into operation the GoCar Protect product which is the GoCar product line with the highest level of protection for epidemic prevention. GoCar vehicles are equipped with a transparent partition between the driver’s and passenger’s seats in the back and the Sharp’s Plasmacluster Ion technology air purifier.
Launching payment segment when 4-wheel service is back in operation
According to General Director of Gojek Vietnam Mr. Phung Tuan Duc: “Golden triangle” Gojek’s key services are Transportation, Food Delivery, and Payment. The introduction of GoCar along with the GoRide 2-wheel ride-hailing service completes our range of transportation products. For online food delivery, we currently have tens of thousands of restaurants with more than 1 million dishes on GoFood.
The third vertex of the triangle is cashless payment, which we are ready to introduce at the same time as GoCar is ready to serve a wide range of people’s needs as soon as the four-wheel ride-hailing service is allowed to return to work following social distancing.
