U.S government announced they are giving priority to Viet Nam regarding their future regional projects, including manufacture of U.S’s strategic supply chain products.

According to Mr.Adam Boehler, CEO of U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), during his meeting with Viet Nam ambassador, Ha Kim Ngoc in Washington, DFC is also interested in supporting development project in Mekong area. They are engaging plans to back investment projects in developing countries, especially ones regarding energy, infrastructure and digital economy.
Ambassador, Ngoc requested that DFC continue to join related activities this year when Viet Nam and U.S will be celebrating their 25th year of diplomatic relation. These activites including ASEAN – US conference, Viet Nam – US joint regional investment.
During COVID-19 outbreak in China, global supply chain was seriously deteriorated since the lockdown and social distancing of many countries. International enterprises are moving their investment out of China to diversify their suppliers and eliminate risks.
Congress meeting in the middle of May, Viet Nam government representative stated Viet Nam still has new awaiting opportunities during pandemic since enterprises are moving their investment out of China. Head of Ministry of Planning and Investment, Nguyen Chi Dung explained this is the result of outstanding Covid-19 control in Viet Nam.
From march, Apple is relocating its manufacture plan from China to Viet Nam. About 4 millions Airpods will be produced in the second quarter. Furthermore, they are recruiting Vietnamese staff, so there is possibility that they will build factory in Viet Nam.
Google and Microsoft are also doing the same thing. Giants such as Amazon and Home Depot started their recruitment campaign and searched for suitable supply chain. To them, Viet Nam is a promising destination along with Indonesia, Thai Land and Malaysia.
